Laporta confirms Villa talks

The Barca President, Joan Laporta confirmed the club’s interest in signing the Valencia striker David Villa today, revealing: “we are in negotiations and things are going well. We are confident that this will be sorted soon”.


With the league title confirmed on Sunday, Barca have turned their focus to summer signings for next season. After extending Gabi Milito’s contract for another year, President Laporta today confirmed that the club were in negotiations to sign the Valencia striker David Villa.

Laporta told reporters: “we’ve started talks with Valencia, things are going well and we hope to reach an agreement as soon as possible. There’s no date been fixed yet, but we’ll sign him when it’s best for our club”.

We are working on this and will try and reach an agreement that suits both the club and the player”.

Finally, Laporta made it very clear that Xavi is definitely staying at the club, asked if he saw the Spanish midfielder leaving the club, the President replied with a very firm “No!”
