Barça bounce back

Sandra Sarmiento

Barca have responded to the disappointment of going out of the Champions League against Inter with three convincing wins against Villarreal, Tenerife and Sevilla to set up the chance to clinch the league title in the Camp Nou next weekend.

Failure to reach the Champions League final in Madrid was, undoubtedly, a disappointment, but the players have responded magnificently with three superb wins against Villarreal, Tenerife and Sevilla. And despite the pressure to secure the points, they have continued to play the same free-flowing attacking football that has delighted fans around the world. Now, only Valladolid stand in the way of Barca’s second consecutive league title.

Three consecutive wins

However, difficult visits to high-flying Sevilla and Villarreal ended in victories for Pep Guardiola’s men, with a home victory against Tenerife in between.

Revenge for Cup knockout

A knockout reaction
After being knocked out of the Cup and the Champions League, Barca put together winning runs totalling 21 goals – 20 of them coming from home-grown talent. In contrast they have conceded just 5 goals.
