“The win is a great confidence boost”

Vanessa Forns

Speaking to the media after training on Sunday, Pedro admitted that the defeat against Inter had been a blow for the squad’s morale, but insisted that the win against Villarreal would give the team: “a real confidence boost”.

It was never going to be simple to bounce back after the disappointment of Wednesday’s European KO and Pedro explained: “it was hard to lift ourselves again, but this was a big game for us and we were clear about what we wanted. We went out to win and the result will give us a real confidence boost”.

Tough till the end

2010-05-02_ENTRENO_02.JPGTenerife, Seville and Valladolid are Barca’s rivals in the final three games and Pedro is well aware that: “it’ll be very tough right till the end of the season, but I think we are capable of taking the points and winning the title. We just have to prepare ourselves mentally and ensure that we win them all – Madrid are dropping hardly any points”.

90 points

2010-05-02_ENTRENO_78.JPGThe win over Villarreal meant Barca have chalked up a massive 90 points so far and Pedro commented: “it was never going to be easy to match last year’s figures, but we’ve got more points – it seems incredible that even so, we are still fighting for the title with three games left to play”.

World Cup

Pedro’s recent performances have raised the question of whether he could make the Spanish squad for eth World Cup this summer, but the player himself is keeping his feet firmly on the ground: “I’d love to go, it’s the most any player can achieve, but right now, I’m relaxed about it and just centred on working hard here. The manager will decide if he needs me”.
