Abidal unable to train

Sandra Sarmiento / Vanessa Forns

Éric Abidal was unable to train on Friday morning as the rest of the FC Barcelona squad were put through their paces at the club’s Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper complex.

The French defender suffered a groin injury in midweek and was absent from the last session that the players have before they take on Xerez on Saturday evening in Camp Nou.

Saint’s day

Stretching was also on the agenda along with circuits to keep the squad on their toes as they prepare for a must-win home game against the top tier’s bottom side.
