Players to rest on Wednesday

The players were able to fly back to Barcelona immediately following the match against Inter Milan after Malpensa airport re-opened. Training will resume on Thursday.

The Barca expedition was therefore spared a repeat of the 14-hour slog by road that they were forced to undergo as a result of the chaos caused by the cloud of volcanic ash emanating from Iceland.

Their flight landed back in Barcelona at 2.30 in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Manager Pep Guardiola decided to give his players the day off to recover.

Next training session

The players will report back for training at 11 o’clock on Thursday morning. Following the session, Valdes will speak to reporters.
