Biggest defeat of Guardiola era

www.fcbarcelona.cat

The 3-1 defeat at the hands of Inter Milan is the first time that Barca have lost by more than one goal since Guardiola took charge of the team.

Guardiola became first team manager in the summer of 2008 and since then has guided the players through 114 matches without losing by more than one goal.

Also, Tuesday’s night’s game was the first time this season that any team has managed three goals against Barca.

Fourth defeat of the season

Last season, Barca lost five league matches (Numancia, Atletico, Espanyol, Osasuna and Mallorca) and two Champions League matches, against Wisla and Shakhtar. In every case the winning margin was just one goal.

Hope in history

Over the past 16 years, Barca have twice turned around a 3-1 deficit. The last time was in 1999/2000 season when Barca (managed by Van Gaal and his assistant Jose Mourinho!) lost 3-1 away to Chelsea. They went on to win 5-1 in the Camp Nou after extra time.

Group stage score line enough
The two sides met in the Camp Nou earlier in the season when Barca beat Inter 2-0 in the group stage. The same result next week would send Barca through to the final in Madrid.
