Surprises in the starting team and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury were just two things that earned headlines after FC Barcelona’s victory against Athletic Club de Bilbao in Round 30 of this season’s La Primera season.
Éric Abidal returned after being injured since February 9 while Dmytro Chygrynskiy made his first
appearance since January and the front three had an unfamiliar look as Lionel Messi was joined by
Bojan Krkic and Jeffren
- Messi has now scored 26 league goals and edged clear in the Pichichi (Spain’s top
goaslscorer award) race and is now level with Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney as
Europe’s best.
-An injury during the warm-up to Ibrahimovic prevented him playing and saw Krkic have to
quickly prepare to play. The forward responded with two of Barça’s four goals on the night.
-Sergio Busquets played his 50th league game for FC Barcelona.
-Víctor Valdés appeared in his 350th official game for Barça and is now just two behind the
mythical Tente Sánchez in the all-time record appearance holders’ list.
