Puyol and Piqué to miss the return

Roger Bogunyà

Carles Puyol and Gerard Piqué will both miss Tuesday’s game at the Camp Nou. The captain was sent off and his fellow centre back is suspended on yellows. Cesc also misses the game.

Following an intense game at the Emirates Stadium, both sides will face the second leg without key players. Barça were only carded twice all night, but both imply suspensions.

Puyol: direct red

2010-03-31_PARTIDO_33.JPGThe first player to suffer was Gerard Piqué, just after Walcott had made it 2-1. But there were further bad news when another regular centre back was penalised. Puyol was sent off in the 83rd minute.

2010-03-31_PARTIDO_36.JPGHis penalty on Cesc, just as he was about to shoot in the six yard box, was punished with a direct red. That means that he will still be one yellow off a suspension when he returns to European action, as a red card does not imply a clean slate.

Cesc out too

2010-03-31_PARTIDO_39.JPGArsenal will be travelling to the Camp Nou without an important player too. Cesc Fàbregas saw yellow for a tackle on Sergio Busquets in the 44th minute and misses the match against the club he served as a youth player.

Ovation for Henry
Thierry Henry was given a standing ovation from his former fans when he came on in the 76th minute. The Frenchman came on for Ibrahimovic and the Emirates Stadium got onto its feet, including a number of banners thanking him for all he did in his days at Arsenal (1999-2007).
