Club to appeal Guardiola and Ibra expulsions

FC Barcelona will appeal against the red cards shown to Josep Guardiola and Zlatan Ibrahimovic during the match against Almeria.


FCB’s general manager, Joan Oliver, made the announcement to reporters on Monday morning. Guardiola was sent off in the 27th minute and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the 60th.

2010-03-04_VESTUARIO_22.JPGAccording to the referee’s report, Josep Guardiola was sent of “while the game was stopped, for leaving the technical area, approaching the referee’s assistant and putting his face within a few centimetres while shouting with his arms raised “they’re giving everything the wrong way” and “you don’t understand anything”.

Regarding the sending off of the Swedish striker, the referee’s report states that “he kicked an opponent in the home team goal area, while the ball was in play but not close enough to be played. The player who was kicked had to be given treatment although he was able to carry on playing as normal”.

At the same press conference, Joan Oliver stressed that the appeals were just part of the normal Club procedure and that the red cards were not “the only explanation of the match. We have complete confidence in the team”.
