Jeffren Suárez has extended his contract with FC Barcelona until 30th June 2012. The buyout clause has been set at 10 million euros.

Jeffren, whose current deal was due to expire at the end of this season, signed his new contract at the Club’s offices on Wednesday.

His buyout clause has been fixed at 10 million euros.

Present at the signing ceremony were Club president Joan Laporta, vice-president Rafael Yuste, technical secretary Txiki Begiristain, and director of football Raül Sanllehí. Jeffren was accompanied by his father and brother.

A happy man

And now I’m just focussed on achieving great things with Barça”. He is looking forward to the chance of winning the league and Champions League this season and knows that his new deal is partly due to the manager: “Guardiola has faith in me”.

Praise from Laporta

Barça president, Joan Laporta, told us: “He’s worked hard to get here. He’s overcome all the pressures there are on the youth players. Pep Guardiola wants him and we decided to make a contract that keeps all parties happy”.

Consolidation of a model
Jeffren is the ninth player to have extended his contract with Barça since the summer and the first to do so in 2010. According to Joan Laporta: “It’s a way of consolidating a model and a team that still has a long way to go. These are young players who can bring a lot to the team so that Barça can carry on enjoying the best moments of our history”.
