Puyol missing for seventh time

Edgar Fornós

Carles Puyol will not play for Barça against Getafe due to suspension. The game against Míchel’s charges will the seventh the captain has missed this season.

Carles Puyol received his fifth yellow card of the season against Sporting and will therefore have to sit out his side’s next match.

Important loss

2009-11-07_FCB_-_MALLORCA_021.JPGIt may be no coincidence that the only two games that Barça have lost this season included a defence without the Catalan star. He sat out the Champions League clash with Rubin Kazan that was lost 2-1 at home, and also the home defeat by the same result in the cup match with Sevilla.

Puyol misses fourth league game

The Barça centre back has missed three league games so far, the wins against Atlético Madrid (5-2) and Xerez (0-2), and the draw at San Mamés against Athletic Bilbao.

Once out of squad

The only time Carles Puyol has been completely overlooked for a match was when he was rested for the cup tie against Cultural Leonesa. Barça won that game 2-0 thanks to a brace from Pedro.
