Barça maintain winning habit

Barça’s latest victory away to Sporting (0-1) means that the team is continuing its recent habit of winning the opening match of the second half of the season.

Since Barça beat Athletic Bilbao in round 20 of the 2003/04 season, they have gone on to win the first match of the second half of the season in the six following seasons.

First away win

However, this season Barça have gone one better as this was the first time in six seasons that round 20 corresponded to an away match.

Winning ways

Over the last six seasons Barça have started the second half of the season with a win and on three occasions then went on to lift the league title. This year they top the table with a five-point lead over Real Madrid.

20-match unbeaten run

It was no surprise that Barça continued their winning streak given that the team is still unbeaten in the league so far this season. An impeccable record.
