Guardiola calls up the big guns for Seville trip

Seventeen of the first team squad’s available 18 players will travel to Seville tomorrow together with Jonathan and Thiago. Márquez, Gai and Vázquez miss out on the trip.


Pep Guardiola is taking all his stars to Seville to turn round the tie and welcomes back Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was suspended for the game in Tenerife Rafa Márquez is rested and youngsters Jonathan dos Santos and Thiago Alcántara are included. Jeffren is still on the injury list and Touré Yaya and Keita are away at the African Nations Cup.

2010-01-12_ENTRENAMIENTO_005.jpgThe squad trained ahead of tomorrow’s game in low temperatures behind closed doors at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Reserve players Gai, and Víctor Vázquez joined Thiago Alcántara and Jonathan dos Santos for the session.

Travel arrangements

2010-01-12_ENTRENAMIENTO_021.jpgThe team travel to Seville on Wednesday, flying out from El Prat at 11.00 and arriving in Seville at 12.30. The team will make their HQ at the Hotel Alfonso XIII until close to kick off rime at 22.00 and fly back immediately after the game.

Valdés rated sixth best keeper
The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) have named Víctor Valdés, durrently the holder of Spain’s Zamora Trophy, the sixth best keeper in the world. Casillas (Madrid), Buffon (Juventus) and Julio César (Inter de Milan) headed the list.
