Sergio: “Patience. The results will come”

David Puig

There is no need to sound any alarms. Sergio Busquets is sure the results will start coming after two disappointments. He also expressed his support for Chygrynskiy and refused to comment on refereeing performances.

Despite the setbacks against Vila-real ( 1-1 ) and Sevilla ( 1-2 ), the players are not worried about the situation any further than natural disappointment at not winning two home fixtures.
In his press conference after training today , Sergio Busquets showed nothing but optimism. “We have had an unlucky start to 2010 through not winning either match, but there is no need to panic. Sevilla won a very open match. Patience. The results will start coming very soon.”

Great situation

We are optimistic and as long as we have the chance, we’ll be playing for all the titles at stake … we are top of the League and in the Champions League we’re playing Stuttgart in the second round. You couldn’t for more from this team.”

Chygrynskiy needs support

2010-01-05_FCB_-_SEVILLA_023.jpgHe also spoke about his Ukrainian colleague Dmytro Chygrynskiy, saying that people should be patient with him while he adapts to his new team. “All players need time to adapt to a new club, a new culture and new system like the one we have at Barça. Dmytro is a great player and it the short time he has been with us he has almost learned Catalan. We have to give him all the support we can and the fans should stick with him, like they do with all members of the team”.

Referees no excuse

Sergio Busquets did not want to get involved in recent complaints about referees. “There will always be debates about referees. We never look for excuses, especially just because we haven’t won. We have to keep out of these arguments. All I would say is that referees should give us more of a chance to speak to them and comment on their decisions”.

Leagues in Tenerife
On Sunday, Barça are returning to a place that always brings back memories of the titles won in 1991/92 and 1992/93. Tenerife played a decisive role both those seasons by beating Real Madrid 3-2 and 2-0, respectively on the last day of the championship. The way Tenerife were so involved in those wins now forms part of club history. Sergio Busquets, who was not born until 1988, says “I don’t remember much about it, but I have seen lots of reports and highlights of those matches. I know perfectly well what those Leagues meant to the club.
