Laporta: “I dedicate the win to Severiano Ballesteros”

“He is a great Barça fan and he is going through a difficult time. In the name of the club I would like to dedicate this win to him and wish him as speedy a recovery as possible”.

Those were the president’s words of support for Severiano Ballesteros, one of Barça’s most illustrious fans, and who is suffering from a brain tumour.

Team captain Carles Puyol expressed similar sentiments. In the name of the team he said “we all hope he gets well as soon as possible and hope he will soon be able to come to the ground and watch us”.

The players were obviously also delighted with the convincing win against Valladolid, and the following is a selection of their comments.

Samuel Eto'o

“I don’t think I have ever scored four goals in the same match before”.

“We are working very well. You get the feeling that it’s easy for us, but it is all the result of working well and hard, and when you work like that you create chances and with the players we have we’ll score goals”.

“I don’t think I was the man of the match. I did my job, which is to push the ball in. The team played fantastically, and against a brave team, who came here to play”.

“I kept the ball and my team-mates will sign it on Monday”.

“What we have to do is keep working to get the fans implied in our game. If we keep playing attacking football, scoring goals and creating good plays, the fans will come. That is what we need to do to get the fans to enjoy themselves as much as we do on the pitch”.

“It was a very good game for us. The team’s playing well, and our minds are now on the next game”.

“I felt fine. I have worked hard with the medical services and I am back to full fitness.”
