Alves: "It was a bittersweet game for us"

Anna Segura

Daniel Alves revealed that the FC Barcelona players have been left with a bittersweet flavour in their mouths after playing so well only to earn just one point from the game against Racing Santander on Saturday in Camp Nou.

After the 1-1 draw the players spoke about their feelings and the general consensus was that the Blaugrana were very unlucky not to win.

Below are what some of the Barça stars had to say:

Dani Alves:

"The respect that our opponents have for us mean that they defend with so many players.

"We have all been left with a bittersweet taste in our mouths after letting the points escape."

Víctor Valdés:

"We have not had much luck, but these things happen in football. They played defensively and wanted to that type of chance."

"We are disappointed because it is not the result we expected. It is a game we should have won. It is a pity that we have not done so after the way that we played."

"We have plenty of chances but their keeper played well."

Pedro:

"When considering that we dominated the game it was difficult to create chances. They played their game and earned a point."

"We played well, but the shame is that the ball would not go in."

"Now we have to continue working to improve."

Gerard Piqué:

"We wanted all three points but it was not possible."

"The ball did not want to go in, but we must not worry about it because in the end the goals will start coming."

"If we continue to play like this then we will start to win games."

"They did not cross the halfway line much because we pressured them well."

"In the last 15 minutes we wanted to play too fast, but I think that is normal."

Sergi Busquets:

"It was a pity because we dominated the game and then from a non-existent free-kick they scored a deflected goal."

"We had all the chances and then they equalised."

Lionel Messi:

"We have had some bad luck, but we have to continue."

"We played very well, played quickly and we had all the possession. We deserved to win."

Samuel Eto'o:

"We played how the coach wanted us to."

"The game was decided from a free-kick that never was."

"We hope that the luck will turn our way soon."
