Fifth debut against Racing in Camp Nou

This Saturday’s game against Racing de Santander will be the fifth league debut in the Camp Nou between the two teams. The last time was in the 1994/95 season and ended with a score of 2-1.


Barça makes its Camp Nou debut in ‘La Liga’ this Saturday (8.00p.m.) against Racing de Santander. It will not be the first time the two clubs meet in the team’s first game in the stadium. In the 40 games played by the Catalans and Cantabrians in the Camp Nou, four have been in the first or second game of the league.

Previous game in the 1994/95 season

Of these four encounters, Barça has won three and drawn one. The last time was on the 10th of September 1994. It was the second league game and Barça won 2-1, with goals from Jordi Cruyff and Ronald Koeman, after an initial goal from Popov.

Clear superiority for Barça in 40 meetings

The statistics are clearly in Barça’s favour with 34 wins, four draws and two defeats, 127 goals for and 27 against. The last defeat for Barça was in the 1982/83 season. Rtacing won 0-2, with goals from Alvarez and Verón.

The last game between these two teams in the Camp Nou was the 20th game of last season. Barça won by a tight 1-0, with a goal from Thierry Henry in the thirtieth minute of the first half.
