Márquez: “People say we played like on PlayStation”

Roger Bogunyà

Rafael Márquez, who missed the final stages of the campaign due to injury, has told us that the team “played incredibly” throughout the season.

Speaking to Barça TV and www.fcbarcelona.cat, the Mexican international summed up Barça’s season as follows. “It’s been magnificent, splendid, the season we all dreamed about. Nothing could have gone better”.

An unlucky injury

WEB_MARQUEZ.jpgRafa Márquez picked up an injury to his left knee in the match between Barça and Chelsea in the Camp Nou (0-0) at the end of April. His season ended at that moment and he wasn’t able to celebrate any of the three titles clinched in May. However, he is very much part of the success: “The team played incredibly. People say we played like on PlayStation, like in the video games”.

However, he admits: “I enjoyed myself a lot on the pitch”.

An attacking defender

In line with all Barça’s defenders he never missed an opportunity to get up in attack, scoring three goals, one in each competition, and so equalling his own record from 2004-05.

Back to his best
Rafa Márquez believes he has been back to his best this season: “I’m happy because I regained the form I wanted. I think I can still keep playing like this a while longer. We have to enjoy this team and I believe we can still do a lot more”.
