Txiki: “we can make it to Rome”

www.fcbarcelona.cat

FC Barcelona are just one step away from the Champions League Final and technical secretary Txiki Begiristain is confident the team can take that stride: “we can make it to Rome. That’s our intention”

Barca now they have to score against Chelsea to get through to the finals after the goalless draw at the Nou Camp and Txiki is convinced they’ll get the ball in the Chelsea Net: “we’ve scored in every game we’ve played away from home except from the game in Krakow when we already had a four goal advantage from the first leg, so I’m confident we can score and get through this tie”.

Objectives: keep the ball and score

Guardiola’s team has kept faith with their attacking philosophy no matter who the opponents and Txiki believes that this will be key in getting past Chelsea: “the only way we know how to play is to keep possession, pressure the opposition to keep them penned in their half and score goals! That’s the way we understand the game of football and we have to play that way if we want to win on Wednesday”.

“We’re up against last year’s finalists”

Despite the team’s recent great results, Txiki warned: “we’ll have to work hard for a win. Don’t forget we are up against last year’s finalists and they’ll be doing everything possible to make the final again. I expect a very tough game against a Chelsea team who’ll be more open this time around, as they know they have to score themselves to get to Rome”.

Dream Team?
Once again Txiki faced the media’s inevitable comparisons between Guardiola’s men and Cruyff’s Dream Team and he made his opinion very clear: “right now, we are a team that’s playing great football and getting some fantastic results, but what really counts are titles, everything else is just talk, it’s winning trophies that makes a team great”.
