Equalling the points record

Edgar Fornós

The victory in the Santiago Bernabéu saw FC Barcelona equal the record number of points won in a season with a division of 20 teams as they took their total to 85 and equalled Real Madrid's tally of last term.

With four games of the season remaining, Barça have drawn level with the record and now have the chance to surpass it and ensure that they add a new statistic to their incredible campaign. Last season Bernd Schuster's Madrid team earned 85 points with 27 wins and now Pep Guardiola's side have the same, but with some room to increase their amount.

Four games more

Home and away

The 85 points secured means that the season can be looked back on with satisfaction. In Camp Nou 44 points have been won while 41 have been picked up in away matches. Barça are also the top scorers at home too as they have netted 58 goals.
Equalling the points record
Close to all-time record
Barcelona are only seven points away from the historic points tally record in the league. In 1996-97, Fabio Capello’s Real Madrid team managed 92 points in a season that saw the top flight contain 22 teams and each side play 42 games.
