League title five points away

David Saura

Barça’s win at the Santiago Bernabéu means they only need five more points to seal the league title. There are four matches to go, and they could even clinch the championship next week at the Camp Nou.

Barça are closer than ever to their 19th league title. As long as they get five of the last twelve points on offer, even winning every game they have left would not be enough for Real Madrid.

WEB_11.jpgThe win at the Santiago Bernabéu leaves Pep Guardiola’s side on 85 points, with Real Madrid way back on 78. Even if the team end up tied on points, Barça would take the title by virtue of their vastly superior head-to-head goal difference.

First chance at the Camp Nou

Barça could even win the league next weekend. If Real Madrid fail to win on Saturday night at 22.00, in a tricky away fixture at Valencia, a Barça win against Villarreal (Sunday, 19.00) would seal the title.

The following are the games remaining for Barça and Real Madrid:

Day 35
Valencia – Real Madrid
FC Barcelona – Vila-real

Day 36
Mallorca- FC Barcelona
Vila-real - Real Madrid

Day 37
FC Barcelona – Osasuna
Real Madrid - Mallorca

Day 38
Deportivo – FC Barcelona
Osasuna – Real Madrid

League title five points away
Three goal lead
Barça reached the break with a half time lead (3-1). It was the first time that has happened since 1965/66, when FC Barcelona reached the break, at Chamartín, winning 3-0, thanks to goals from Fusté (2) and Zaldúa. They ended up winning 3-1.
