Alves and Brazil draw with Ecuador (1-1)

Brazil had a tough time getting a one all draw out of their game at Quito against Ecuador, in the eleventh round of South American qualifying games for the 2010 World Cup.


Dani Alves wasn’t in the starting XI but instead came off the bench in the 23rd minute to replace Maicon.

Julio César keeps them out

Brazil had a torrid time against tough opponents. Throughout the first half Ecuador had a number of chances but Brazil keeper Julio César kept them out.

Baptista and Noboa find the net

alvesbrasil.jpgAt halftime the score stood at 0-0, but in the 72nd minute Julio Baptista broke the deadlock with a low drive. Then with just a minute left on the clock Ecuador equalised through Cristian Noboa.

Brazil are fourth

The draw means Brazil are now fourth on 18 points. The table is headed by Paraguay on 23 followed by Argentina and Chile on 19. Ecuador drop to seventh on 13.
