Iniesta and Abidal on track for recovery

Jaume Marcet

Abidal and Andrés Iniesta both took important steps to recovery from their respective injuries this morning, training at the Ciutat Esportiva with Carles Puyol. It’s the first time the pair have trained with a ball since their injuries.

Abidal’s injury dates from the Espanyol game five weeks ago and he’s well on course to full recovery within the 8-week period originally set by the club medical staff, whilst Iniesta suffered a thigh injury last Sunday against Malaga and is also on the road to recovery.

Kick Around

Squad depth
Both Abidal and Puyol have been pillars of the Barca defence this season, but Guardiola’s depth of squad has meant that in their absence he has been able to call on Sylvinho, Piqué or Cáceres to ably cover their absences.
