Session with minds on Champions League

Marc Guillén

After a day’s holiday, Barça returned to work with their eyes on the Champions League game with Olympique Lyon. The injured Carles Puyol was not present.

Manager Josep Guardiola gave a day off to his players after they beat Athletic Club 2-0, but today they met again at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper. The squad are now getting preparations under way for the European return leg against Olympique Lyon, which kicks off on Wednesday night at 20:45.

Botía continues with squad

With Puyol injured, Guardiola has problems putting together a defence, and has called upon Botía because Abidal and Milito are also unfit. The other members of the squad enjoyed a fairly routine training session.

They started with eight minutes of jogging around pitches one and two of the Sant Joan Despí complex.

They trained today sing the official Champions League match ball, so that they can adjust to the slight difference between the ball used for European games and the one they use in La Liga.
