The best and worst in Vicente Calderón

Berta Brau

Atlético de Madrid's Vicente Calderón stadium has been a difficult place for FC Barcelona to take anything from in recent seasons as they have won just once in the last six visits.

Since returning to la Primera, Barça have played at Los Colchoneros' home ground six times in the league and the record stands at one win, two draws and three defeats, meaning that the away side has won just five points from a possible 18. Because of that, nobody within the Blaugrana camp will be making any bold predictions ahead of Sunday's match.

Six of the best

IJ2N0115.jpgThe only time that Barça have won in the last six seasons came in the 2006-07 campaign when Frank Rijkaard's team went there hoping to triumph in order keep theirt title hopes going. The team not only won all three points however, but they recorded an incredible 0-6 victory with Lionel Messi (2), Samuel Eto'o, Gianluca Zambrotta, Ronaldinho and Andrés Iniesta all scoreing.

Last time out

If that defeat was hard for Atlético de Madrid to take, then last term Barça wanted to forget their visit to the Vicente Calderón as they were beaten 4-2 by the home team. Ronaldinho netted a superb overhead kick, his last for the club, but Sergio Agüero led the home team's comeback with two goals.

Goals galore

AT_MADRID-BARxA.JPGThe results show that while Barcelona may not have picked up many points, they have scored as many goals as they have conceded with ten in favour and ten against.
The best and worst in Vicente Calderón
Two goalless games
For two seasons running Barcelona were unable to score in the Vicente Calderón as they were beaten 3-0 in 2002-03 and then drew 0-0 a year later in 2003-04.
