Iniesta out for two weeks

Andrés Iniesta suffered a hamstring injury during training on Tuesday and has now been told that the will be out of action for two weeks.


At the end of the session the FC Barcelona playmaker felt some pain in his left leg and underwent a scan. On Wednesday morning a second round of examinations revealed at the Hospital de Barcelona revealed that the player has strained a hamstring in his left leg that will see him out of action for the next 14 days.

Previous injury

On November 4 last year, Iniesta suffered an injury against Basel in his right leg and was out of action for two months. He returned to playing again in the 17th game of the league season against Real Mallorca.

Every game in 2009

He has played against Mallorca, Deportivo, Osasuna, Numancia, el Racing, Sporting and Betis in the league and also played in all the ties in the Copa del Rey as the Blaugrana have played Atlético de Madrid, Espanyol and Real Mallorca. In January he started in each cup match and was substitute in the league matches. In the last few weeks has regained his place in the initial eleven in la Primera.

Second only to Alves
Andrés Iniesta is second only to Dani Alves in the number of minutes that he has played for FC Barcelona since the turn of the year. While the Brazilian has played 924 minutes, Iniesta is not far behind with 792 under his belt. Alves has only missed the return leg of the Copa del Rey quarter final against Espanyol.
