Team back at work on Wednesday

www.fcbarcelona.cat

Pep Guardiola’s squad won’t start getting ready for Saturday’s game with Betis until Wednesday, and even then many players will be missing on international duty.

Training this week for the first team is affected by international commitments. After Sunday’s 3-1 win over Sporting Gijon, Guardiola gave his players two days off which means they won’t be back at work until 11 am on Wednesday at the Ciudad Deportiva complex.

Thursday evening session

Thursday’s training session is scheduled for 6 pm to give the internationals time to get back and it will also take place at the Ciudad Deportiva.

On Friday, the day before the game with Betis, training will be at 11.30 am at the same venue.

Travelling on day of game

The squad will fly to Seville on Saturday at 11 am. The game against Betis is set to kick off at 8 pm that evening at Manuel Ruiz de Lopera.

Barça are scheduled to train again at 11.30 am on Sunday at the Ciudad Deportiva.

Only eight players
After Barça’s medical team agreed with the Spanish football federation that Puyol wouldn’t play in Wednesday’s clash with England after picking up a strain against Sporting, Pep Guardiola will have eight first teamers on Wednesday: Valdés, Pinto, Sylvinho, Jorquera, Pedro, Víctor Sánchez, Hleb and Puyol.

The bulk of the internationals will be back on Thursday meaning he will have two sessions with the full squad to get ready for Saturday’s clash with Betis.
