Portugal through to quarterfinals

Deco’s Portugal squad are the first team to make it through to the quarterfinals. With six points from their two games, Switzerland’s defeat against Turkey means that Portugal have qualified.

A last minute goal from Arda Turan gave Turkey an important win over co-hosts Switzerland and also guaranteed Portugal a place in the quarterfinals. Deco and the rest of his team-mates had earlier beaten the Czech Republic 3-1 , their second win in two matches.

Furthermore, they have assured themselves of first place in the group with a game still to play as they have the better record against Turkey and the Czech Republic.
