Three historic cup goals

Berta Brau

FC Barcelona's victory over Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey on Tuesday night saw all three of the goals create a small piece of history for the Catalan club.

The win against the Segunda B outfit came thanks to a strike from Thierry Henry, who has now scored in three competitions this term, an effort from Eidur Gudjohnsen, who celebrated his first goal of the campaign, and an injury time strike from Bojan Krkic, who continues to see his stock rise at Camp Nou.

Henry makes it three-out-of-three

alcoi-fcb.jpgIn the 25th minute of the encounter, Henry became the only player at Barça to have scored in three competitions this season. In the league, the French international has a tally of five goals to his name. A hat-trick away at Levante saw him open his account and that was followed by efforts against Real Betis and Almería at home. Henry then found the net in his first Champions League appearance of the season against Olympique Lyonnais and added another in the victory over Rangers last week. Finally, Henry did not let his chance go begging in the cup as he broke the deadlock against Alcoyano has Barça progressed with some ease to the next round.

Cup of cheer for Gudjohnsen

Gudjohnsen also made a name for himself as he maintained his link to the Copa del Rey by scoring the second goal of the evening. The Icelandic international scored a brace in the first knockout round of the cup last season against Badalona, and followed that by scoring again this term. In both games the Blaugrana were dressed in orange.

The young ones

Krkic had an impressive game against Alcoyano did not waste his chance to score either as he registered his first ever goal in the Copa del Rey when netting Barça's third effort in injury time. The goal made him one of the club's youngest ever goalscorers in the competition. He is only just behind Paulino Alcántara, who in 1913 scored in the Campeonao de España, the trophy that went on to become the Copa del Rey. Alcçantara was 17 years, one month and 23 days old, just 24 days younger than Krkic.
