Satisfied but focussed on Getafe

David Puig / Jordi Clos

The players trained on Thursday morning just hours after defeating Rangers in the Champions League. The focus was on recovering tired muscles ahead of Saturday evening’s league clash in the Coliseo Alfonso Pérez against Getafe.

Twelve hours after the Rangers win, the Barça players were back on the training grounds to prepare Saturday’s league match away to Getafe. Rafa Márquez and Andrés Iniesta, who are both carrying knocks, remained in the gym to receive special treatment.

Light session

Milito, Puyol, Thuram, Henry, Touré and Abidal did some recovery exercises and then returned to the dressing rooms, with the exception of Thuram, who as usual after a match, continued with some personalised exercises. The other group, made up of Bojan, Giovani, Xavi, Sylvinho, Ezquerro, Jorquera, Valdés, Oleguer, Gudjohnsen, Ronaldinho and Messi, did some ball control work. The players from last night’s team gradually drifted back to the dressing rooms while the rest carried on with some passing and shooting practice.

Iniesta and Márquez back on Friday
On Thursday morning, Andrés Iniesta and Rafa Márquez had a number of tests to determine the extent of their injuries. Iniesta took a blow to a left knee ligament but will probably return to training with the group on Friday. For his part, Márquez has a calf strain in his right leg but will also train on Friday to decide his availability for the trip to Madrid.
