Ronaldinho continue to improve

David Puig / Vanessa Forns

Ronaldinho is well on the road to recovery from the injury to a muscle in his right leg. He trained on Thursday morning at La Masia, while the players that played against Zaragoza last night had a short recuperation session.

He worked out alone, and his time on the pitch overlapped for half an hour or so with the activities of the bulk of the squad that had played in last night’s win over Real Zaragoza..

Ronaldinho did a series of different exercises that lasted about an hour. After a short warm-up, the Brazilian international tackled an obstacle course, followed by another exercise that involved ball work and shots on goal. The session ended with the Brazilian demonstrating that although he might be injured, he certainly hasn’t lost any of his shooting accuracy.

Gentle activity for the rest

For about half an hour Henry, Abidal, Xavi, Deco, Iniesta, Touré, Messi, Milito, Oleguer, who came on for the injured Zambrotta, and Valdés exercised in pairs. The only missing first team player was Marquez, who was in the gym.

Oier joins first team
Like last Sunday, the Barça B goalkeeper Oier Olazábal trained with the first team. The coaching staff have decided that the young keeper should train once or twice a week with Rijkaard’s team in order to gain experience. He will usually be doing this on days after matches, in order not to interfere too much with Pep Guardiola’s work with the reserves.

Oier was closely monitored by Juan Carlos Unzué as he first trained as part of the main group and then acted as goalkeeper for Ronaldinho’s activities.
