We want the people to identify with the team, and for the team to give the members what they want, good football ... FC Barcelona is a demanding club and any player that wants to stay here has to put their heart into it and I have always wanted to carry on playing here, doing things well and winning titles.”

Personally, I am very pleased. I was working well and things just needed to be put on the table and formalised. On a personal level, I am highly satisfied.”

New boss

When the season starts, he will be working under the orders of a new manager, Pep Guardiola. Says Sylvinho, “if he is the first team coach it is because he deserves the position. He has done a great job with the B team. He has plenty of character and knows the place well. He is the kind of person who will be enthusiastic about doing as good a job as possible.”

New arrivals

The three new signings made so far are all defensive players, Keita, Piqué and Cáceres. The Brazilian commented that “they are all players with a lot to give us. They had good seasons with their old clubs. And they are all young but experienced, and excited about coming here. We are going to get better, each of them has skills and physical qualities that will prove important.”
