Pique and Milito: from Zaragoza to Barça

Gerard Pique and Milito will once again wear the same shirt. The two defenders coincided at Zaragoza for one season and one year later they will both find themselves Barça players.


Gerard Pique will soon meet up with those players he played with during his time in the youth ranks of the club, as well as Gaby Milito, who he played with for one season at Zaragoza. In his first interview as a Barcelona player, given to Barça TV, Pique spoke about his relationship with the Argentinian, with whom he formed a central defensive partnership on several occasions.

22 games in common

Gerard Pique played 22 league games with Zaragoza, 18 of which he played alongside Milito. Of the 18 games, they won 8, lost 4 and drew 6.

Centre-half partnership

piquedinho.jpgVictor Fernandez played Gerard Pique in two positions. Although the vast majority of games he played in midfield in front of the back four, he also played as a centre-half. Pique partnered Gaby Milito at the back in nine games, winning three, drawing four and losing two, conceding 8 goals.

Two good friends
In his interview with Barça TV the Barça defender spoke about his good relationship with Gaby Milito: “He’s a ‘crack’. We were very friendly at Zaragoza. We roomed together and understood each other very well. He’s a great guy. I hope he recovers soon”.
