Giovani: “I know I can do better”

Marc Guillén

Mexican forward Giovani Dos Santos told reporters on Wednesday that he’s made great progress this season on a personal level and that he hopes to do even better in the future.

“I’m well aware of the kind of club I’m in and I’ve played more than I imagined. But at the same time I’m demanding of myself and I know I can do better”.

He’s had to play on through a left ankle problem, which could have affected his performances, but he assured reporters that he wasn’t looking for any excuses.

Focussed on the operation and on Barça

Although some fans expressed their discontent at the last home match, he emphasised that he is very happy at the Club and hopes to stay here a long time.

“Respect for the fans”

The Mexican admitted it was difficult to face this kind of negative reaction from the fans: “I didn’t feel comfortable because as a player you always want to have everyone’s support. But I know the Barça fans and I respect them a lot. They can show their feelings any way they want and I have to mature and grow in order to try and change the whistling for applause”.

Pep Guardiola
Giovani also spoke about Frank Rijkaard’s successor at FC Barcelona, Pep Guardiola: “I’ve talked to some of the players Barça B and everyone has spoken very well of him. He’s a coach from within the Club, he’s just beginning and he has the desire to succeed. That’s all very important”.
