The referee
Massimo Busacca will be the referee for the game between FC Barcelona and Manchester United. The 39-year-old Swiss has taken charge of Barça games on three previous occasions and all have ended in victory for the Blaugrana. In 2004-05 he officiated when Brondby were beaten 2-1 in the UEFA Cup, then when Werder Bremen were defeated 3-0 last season and when Lyon were beaten in the first match of this term. All three games were played in Camp Nou.

Busacca has only taken charge of one United match and it was when they met Hungarian outfit Debreceni in 2005-06 and won 3-0. The official is very highly rated and was awarded the UEFA Cup final last season when Sevilla beat Espanyol on penalties and also oversaw Getafe's historic encounter with Bayern Munich recently.
