Records, previous meetings, statistics. Here you will find everything you could wish to know about Celtic against Barça.


- Celtic won all three of their home games in the group stage this season, beating AC Milan (2-1), Benfica (1-0) and Shakhtar Donetsk (2-1).

- Barça were held to two draws, against Rangers and Lyon, while beating VfB Stuttgart in their trio of away games in the group phase of the Champions League this season.

- The last time that Celtic lost at home in the Champions League was when Barça won 3-1 at Parkhead during the 2004-05 campaign.

- Last season both teams went out at this stage last season as Barcelona were beaten over two legs by Liverpool, while Celtic were eliminated by AC Milan.

- Both teams are having similar seasons domestically, as Celtic and barça are second in the league and have not been beaten in 2008.

- Eight Celtic have made appearances in all six of the team's group games as Boruc, Caldwell, McManus, Brown, Donati, McGeady, McDonald and Hartley all being regulars. Of those, Boruc, Caldweell, McManus and Hartley played the full 540 minutes.

- In Frank Rijkaard's team only Xavi, Andrés Iniesta and Ronaldinho have participated in every Champions League game so far. Not one of them played every minute, however.

- Celtic midfielder Scott Brown is the player that has committed the most fouls, 22 in total, in this seasons Champions League. The Scottish playmaker is suspended for the visit of Barcelona.

- No Barcelona players are suspended because of cards for the game, but if Lionel Messi or Touré Yaya are booked then they will miss the second leg in Camp Nou in two weeks.

lio-fcb01_x1x.jpg- Rijkaard will not be on the bench at Parkhead on Wednesday as he is due to serve the second game of his two-match suspension after being sent off during the game in Lyon.

- Of the 16 team remaining in the Champions League this season, Celtic have had the least shots at goal, 22, in the competition while Barça have enjoyed the most with 48.

- The Scottish outfit are also the lowest scorers in the tournament having netted just five goals.

- If he plays on Wednesday then Eidur Gudjohnsen will be making his 50th Champions League appearance.
Celtic-Barça...did you know?
The referee
Peter Fröjdfeldt, 44, will be the referee for the game between Celtic and Barcelona at Parkhead and it will be the first that the Swede has ever officiated either side. In the Champions League this term, he has already overseen the game between Arsenal and Sevilla at the Emirates in the group stages.
