Arrival and training

Míriam Nadal / Vanessa Forns

The first team landed this Sunday morning from Seville. On arriving at the Nou Camp, the players headed straight for the dressing room to change and carried out a light warm down session in La Masía.

A little later, the group headed for La Masía for a warm down session following Saturday’s game in the Sánchez Pizjuán (1-1). There they met up with Carles Puyol who was training with a physio as he continues his recovery from injury.

Apart from those absentees we already knew about - Jorquera, Ezquerro, Bojan, Deco, Puyol, Zambrotta, Sylvinho, Eto'o, Touré and Oleguer – also absent were Messi, Xavi, Thuram, Abidal, Márquez and Henry, who remained in the dressing room being treated for various knocks and injuries picked up during the game against Sevilla.

Oleguer and Henry

Henry was substituted in the 58th minute with some muscle problems in his left leg, while Oleguer had some x-rays taken after the game which picked up an oblique fracture of the third metacarpal in his left hand which will keep him out for about six weeks.

Youth squad players present

Obviously, the three players from Pep Guardiola’s side who travelled to Seville did not arrive in time to play Barça B’s game in Castelldefels.

Light training

The rest were did some drills and then some ball work. The players finished with some various exercises finishing with a one on one with the keeper.

At the end of the session Gudjohnsen, Víctor Vázquez and Víctor Sánchez played against Ronaldinho, Edmílson and Espasandín in a small match, with Pinto and Plancharía keeping goal.

After Sunday’s session the players will not return to training until Tuesday. And it was Rijkaard’s decision to give the holiday. So the team will meet up next Tuesday at 11.00 to start preparing for their next league match away to Zaragoza on Saturday.
