”We have to win away to catch the leader”

David Puig

Eric Abidal feels Barça have to make sure they win their away games if they want to catch up with Real Madrid. He also commented that he feels his adaptation to his new team is now complete.

FC Barcelona full back Eric Abidal was speaking after training on Thursday and believes his team needs to win on the road if they are to win the league: “After the good result against Osasuna I said how important it is for us now to win at Sevilla. We are playing well at the Camp Nou but if we want to catch Real Madrid we also need to win away from home. Saturday gives us a good chance to show we can”.

Comeback possible

Abidal feels everybody is in this together. He said ”it is good that we are still fighting together to win the league. The players, the fans the president, etc. We need to get it into our heads that a comeback is possible but to do that we have to stop thinking about the past, because this season is different to last season”.

Fully adapted

Abidal feels we are starting to see the very best of what he can do. ”I feel good” he said. “Almost one hundred per cent. It has been about going from less to more as I have slowly got used to being in a tram that plays very different football to that at Olympique Lyon. Like in the last game against Osasuna when I was moving up the field until the last moment, and that means I am getting better with every day”.

Ready for Saturday
Abidal missed training on Thursday, but it was no big deal, as he explained to the press. ”After the game with Spain I had a few leg problems but it’s nothing serious and I will be fine for the game against Sevilla on Saturday” he said.
