Bojan: "I could not ask for more"

Jaume Marcet

Bojan has expressed his delight at having been called into the full Spain squad by Luis Aragonés. The young striker was maintaining his composure as he said that was "happy, but staying calm" and admitted that he was not thinking about Euro 2008.

"It is all happening very quickly and it depends on me to take it all in;" he continued. Bojan's rise to prominence has happened incredibly quickly as he was promoted to the Barça squad in the summer and has now been named in the Spanish side only months later.

Staying calm

"At only 17, to receive a call from the Spanish national team is incredible, I could not ask for more," he explained.

Not looking ahead

When asked whether he felt he could earn a place in the squad for the forthcoming European Championships, Bojan was not prepared to make predictions: "I do not want to talk about that," he said. "That is still a long way off. I want to remain calm and enjoy this chance and then continue working in peace."

Congratulations

Bojan then revealed that all his team-mates at Barcelona were pleased for him too. "When they heard the news, they were all very pleased and came over to congratulate me," he continued, before stating that he had not yet spoken to his close friend Thierry Henry about the game against France. "When it was rumoured that I might be called up, he said it would be great to be on opposing sides in the Spain against France match," he added.

Cup draw
Finally, the Linyola-born youngster reflected on the draw for the semi final of the Copa del Rey that saw Barcelona paired with Valencia. "All three teams that we could have faced are strong," he said. "We have to remain calm and to play our won way and it will be them that will be the more worried team."
