Training plan for the week

The football first team is to have a double training session this Tuesday to get ready for their Cup fixture against Villarreal on Thursday. Some of the injured players are also to play in a training game this afternoon, Monday, against Barça B.

A specific training plan has been drawn up for this week because of the return match in the King’s Cup against Villarreal (Thursday, 22:00) and the League game on Sunday with Osasuna (19:00). Although the squad has today Monday off, some of the players who are recovering from injury will be given an outing in a training match against Barça’s reserve team at 17.30 this afternoon at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper as part of their recovery plan.

Double session on Tuesday

The first team will train twice this Tuesday, once in the morning at 11:00 and again in the evening at 18:00, as the players start to get ready for the King’s Cup fixture with Villarreal on Thursday at 22:00. On Wednesday, after a session behind closed doors at 19:00, Frank Rijkaard will announce the squad for the Cup match and the team will head off to their pre-match hotel.

Games on Thursday and Sunday

After drawing the first leg 0-0, both Barça and Villarreal will be looking to book their place in the semi-finals of the King’s Cup in the return leg on Thursday. The players will have little time to rest afterwards as they will have another training session at 12:00 on Friday morning, this time to gear up for the League. On Saturday they will train behind closed doors, at 11:00, to make final preparations for the game against Osasuna on Sunday.
Training plan for the week
9 games in January
Next Thursday marks the end of a month in which Barça will have played 9 League and King’s Cup matches. The fixtures marathon began on 2 January with the return leg of their last 32 Cup tie with Alcoyano and will finish, also in the Cup, against Villarreal.
