Squad flies to South Africa

The FC Barcelona first team left El Prat airport for Johannesburg this morning at 10.30. The expedition is being led by director Albert Perrín and technical secretary Txiki Begirisitain.


The players and staff are off to South Africa where they have a friendly against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday night, kicking off at 20:00 (Barça TV, Barça TV Online and TV3). The 20 players and the coaching team are being joined on the end of season trip by director Albert Perrín, technical secretary Txiki Begiristain and Social Commission members Jacint Borràs and Agustí Benedito.

WEB_01.jpgFour Barça B players have been included in the group travelling to the country that will host the 2010 World Cup. These are Víctor Vázquez, Jesús Olmo, Marc Crosas and Dimas Delgado all of whom will be relishing another opportunity to show that they have what it takes to play first team football in a game that draws an end to the 2006-07 season.

Charity supper
The squad is expected to arrive in Johannesburg at 19:55, just in time for the players to make their way to a special supper being organised by the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
