Monday training focussed on South Africa

Míriam Nadal/Anna Segura

The players trained on Monday morning ahead of Wednesday’s friendly in South Africa.

The league may have finished but training continues for the Barça squad. On Wednesday they have a friendly match against the current South African league champions Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria (8pm, Barça TV).

The session

After the huge disappointment of the previous evening, long faces and long silences were the predominate feature of Monday’s session, the last of the season. The players went through the usual post-match routine for an hour and then returned to the dressing room.

Edmílson, Gudjohnsen and Sylvinho, who are all sidelined by injury, did not take part in today’s session while Deco and Márquez, who both picked up knocks in the match against Nàstic worked out separately from the rest of the squad in the gym. Goalkeeper Victor Valdés also worked separately from the group with fitness coach Albert Roca. The rest of the senior squad were joined by Barça B players Jesús Olmo and Marc Crosas.
