Gudjohnsen out for a week

Eidur Gudjohnsen will be unable to play for a week after tests revealed on Wednesday afternoon that the FC Barcelona has inflamed cartilage in his right knee.

The Icelandic international will miss the final game of the league season against Gimnàstic on Sunday. "The player is suffering from an inflammation in the cartilage of his right knee," a medical statement from the club read. "The approximated time that he will be out is one week."

After leaving training before the rest of the players on Tuesday because of a problem with his knee, Gudjohnsen worked in the gym on Wednesday morning before going for tests at the Clínica Asepeyo in Sant Cugat, where the injury was diagnosed.
