Gimnàstic will not make it easy

David Puig

Winning in the Nou Estadi against Club Gimnàstic will be no easy task for FC Barcelona as Real Madrid are the only team in the top five that have picked up all three points from their visit there this season.

Nàstic may have already been consigned to the la Segunda A next season, the Tarragona-based outfit will go into the final match of the season looking to cause a surprise against their Catalan neighbours. With the pressure off and a 1-0 win at Getafe under their belts last Sunday, Barça's hosts this weekend will be playing for pride.

Flores' team will be going out to put on a show as they say goodbye to the top flight in front of their own supporters and they will know that they have a chance to earn some headlines by beating the reigning European and domestic champions.

Surprise results in Nou Estadi

Despite losing ten home games this season, Nàstic have won four and drawn four as well. Of the top five teams in the league, only Real Madrid have come away from the Nou Estadi with a victory (1-3) and had to battle for that. Sevilla, who are third, lost 1-0, fourth-placed Valencia drew and Real Zaragoza, who are fifth, were also beaten.
Espanyol were hammered 4-0, Racing were held to a 2-2 draw and Depor played out a goalless encounter.

Hard fought win in Camp Nou
The previous meeting between FC Barcelona and Gimnàstic this season saw the Blaugrana run out as 3-1 winners in Camp Nou in the 19th week of the league season. Javier Saviola scored after 17 minutes before Ludovic Giuly added a second in the 67th minute to create a cushion for Frank Rijkaard's team. Nàstic always made life difficult for the hosts and the same thing should be expected this weekend.
