17 in Copa Catalunya squad

Sergi Nogueras

Frank Rijkaard has named 17 players in his squad to face Espanyol in Tuesday’s Copa Catalunya final in Sabadell. It is the same line-up that faced Nàstic in the semis, with the exception of Giuly, who is carrying a minor injury.

Frank Rijkaard has once again opted for a side largely based on Barça B, with no fewer than ten of the reserve team in his squad. Ludovic Giuly has been left out. The Frenchman has been training separately this week due to trouble with his right thigh.

The squad

Xavi back to training

However, the yellow card he was shown in that match means he will sit out this Wednesday’s Euro 2008 qualifier against Liechtenstein, meaning he has returned to Barcelona ahead of time. Puyol and Iniesta, however, are still with the Spain squad.

Sylvinho to undergo tests
Although named in the squad, Sylvinho may not feature in the final. The Brazilian fullback has been having trouble with his right ankle and following medical tests today, Frank Rijkaard will decide whether or not it would be a wise idea to play him in the Copa Catalunya final.
