International fixtures

Next weekend there are no league matches here in Spain but many Barça players will be involved in a total of 16 international commitments.

Players will be thin on the ground in this week’s training sessions with many Barça stars away on international duty. The international break includes 16 matches involving our players of which 10 are competitive (9 for EURO 2008 and 1 for the CAF Africa Cup) and the rest friendlies.

Thirteen Barça internationals

Now that Xavi, Iniesta and Puyol have all been confirmed for the Spain squad, the number of Barça players away on international duty has risen to 13: Deco, Gio, Ronaldinho, Edmílson, Thuram, Zambrotta, Gudjohnsen, Saviola, Messi and Eto’o, plus the three called up by Spain coach Luis Aragonés.

Three with injuries

Zambrotta, Deco and Messi have all joined their international squads despite carrying a variety of knocks. They will all be presenting medical reports to their respective national coaches.

Five dates

The matches will be played over five days opening with the match between England and Brazil on Friday 1st. The remaining matches will be played on 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th.
