The draw against Betis means Frank Rijkaard’s men have lost their lead to Real Madrid, who won against Espanyol on Saturday. Despite this, the Barça players have not lost hope in winning back the top spot.

Four games remain and now, Barça’s fate is out of their hands. However, Frank Rijkaard’s team do not see their title hopes dashed and are confident in achieving their third consecutive Liga title. This is the impression the players have wanted to give and Captain Carles Puyol said: “I personally think if we win the remaining four games, we’ll be champions”.

Carles Puyol

“Four difficult games left and I don’t see Madrid winning them all. We have to win them all, and I can see us doing just that. I personally believe if we win the four remaining games, we’ll be champions”.

“In the first half, we played well and created chances, however, the second goal never came and they capitalised on a lapse in concentration towards the end.”

“We can’t moan about the fans’ reaction. Now is the time to be as one. They are difficult times and we will fight until the end.”

“The loss in midweek, now a draw…it’s easy to see why people think these are not good times, we, however, will fight until the end.”

Víctor Valdés

“We had the game under control, but at just 1-0, there’s always a risk. It was a shame they scored in the last minute.”

“The fans were with us, it’s a shame they didn’t see a win.”

“We have four games left, we’ve lost the lead, but we’re still confident we can give our supporters something to cheer about.”

Andrés Iniesta

“I think if we win the last four games, we’ll be champions. We’ve been leading the Liga nearly all season, now is not the time to lose hope.”

“Our dominance in the first half was notable. Betis didn’t create any chances until the end.”

“I hope the situation changes in the last four games; we have great players and we have to be at our best for the next game.”

“The fans always voice their feelings. They showed their support in the first half and it is logical that by the end it had dropped.”

Xavi Hernández

“It’s a shame because came at the worst time. We’ve now lost our lead and our fate is out of our hands. However, if we win the last four games, we’ve got a strong chance.”

“We weren’t able to finish off the game in the first half, this made the second half more difficult and we paid the ultimate price for a lapse in concentration.”

“I think a justified result would have been 2-0 or 3-0, however, our mistake at the end cost us dearly.”

“Madrid have difficult games ahead, I’m confident we can still win.”
