Puyol: “I feel furious and helpless”

Carles Puyol spoke on behalf of the players after tonight’s Cup defeat against Getafe and admitted: “I feel furious and helpless”.

Club captain Carles Puyol faced reporters after the match in representation of the entire squad and admitted: “It’s difficult to say anything. I feel furious and helpless. We were all looking forward to the final but, in football, until the final whistle you can’t say anything”.

Getafe the better team

“Getafe was better. We had a disastrous match. We went there to keep control of the match but in Barça we don’t know how to hold on to a result. They saw that they could beat us and we gave them life”.

No overconfidence

However, Puyol denied that the team had been overconfident, though he admitted: “The result in the first leg made us clear favourites”. In unison with his manager, he publicly apologised to the fans: “We all had great hopes and today we let them down. But now we have to put it behind us”.
