Jorquera set for his finest hour

Miriam Nadal

Albert Jorquera is particularly motivated for the Copa del Rey semi final with Getafe. He is the first choice keeper in that competition, and claims a final appearance would be the greatest achievement of his career.

Jorquera is desperate to get the chance to play for Barça in the cup final next month. “If we get to the final it will be the most important match I have ever played as a professional” he said.

One hundred per cent up for it

WEB_13.jpgMotivation is the key to Jorquera’s belief that the Catalans will survive the Getafe challenge and book a place at the Bernabéu for the final. “I am really keen to make it to the final. We do have a good lead but that does not mean it will be an easy game. The truth is the team is very motivated for this and really wants to get to the final. We would have to play a pretty disastrous game not to qualify”.

Great league position

“Madrid have not been dropping points recently, they’re winning games. So we have good reason to be wary. Madrid are creating pressure, but we’re on a good run too, especially at home, and we have to make sure it stays that way. We are the ones in the lead” said Jorquera when asked about Barça’s league chances. “We have the most options” he said.

Ezquerro ‘destabilises’ Jorquera
Jorquera’s press conference was not the easiest, and the keeper himself claimed to have suffered from ‘destabilisation’. Santi Ezquerro, from the side door to the press room, once again demonstrated his skills as an impersonator, interrupting Jorquera’s words with his imitations. “Now that’s destabilisation” laughed Jorquera, alluding to a previous question regarding the pressure emanating from Madrid and Sevilla in the run-in to the end of the league season.
