Rijkaard: “We got the job done”
Frank Rijkaard was pleased with the way his players performed in Tuesday night’s 4-0 friendly win against Egyptian side Al-Ahly.
“In the first half, the team played well” he said. “The opposition had more chances in the second, but in general terms, we got the job done”.
Pleased for Bojan
Frank Rijkaard was particularly impressed with Bojan Krkic’s debut performance, in which the 16 year old even managed to score a goal. “We are happy because he’s such a talented player” said the Barça coach. “Although he is still young he has plenty of class and quality”.
Denies outburst
He also denied stories that he had had a serious go at his players in Monday’s training session held just before flying out to Egypt, and in the wake of Sunday’s setback in Villarreal. “It wasn’t a telling off, here we all win and we all lose together. I just told them that we need to focus on our remaining games.”
Saviola pleased to score
Though it was just a friendly, Javier Saviola was delighted to have scored. “Scoring is
always important” he said. “It is important to recognise this team’s ability to
score, because almost all the forwards got goals.” Speaking about Bojan’s excellent
debut, the Argentinian added “we are happy for him because he is such a promising
player.”
